HB Dog Park Puppy Beaters

I started this blog to help those people who are trying to find a place to run and play in a safe and good environment. I have gone to several dog parks in the area, Huntington Beach, CA. Unfortunately there are puppy beaters out there. I am not sure what possesses someone to think they can beat someones puppy but they do.
Huntington Beach dog park is closed in the morning. Many people still go to the HB dog park. Some people sit on the small dog park side and I would say 80% of the dogs are large dogs. People bring dog treats into the dog park. This makes all the dogs go crazy.
Puppy beater enters with yellow lab and my dog and another are playing with this dog. She begins to beat my dog and said stop we are leaving DO NOT beat my dog! Get away from my dog. She kept beating my dog and chasing him to beat him more. I said they are playing.
I called the police. These people sit on that side and I have seen several people not come and and go away because of the environment.
I go through this story because Huntington Beach Dog Park has a large number of puppy beaters. Hunting Beach Dog Park is not a safe environment for your dog if these puppy beaters are present. Here are some signs that you want to look for:
  • people who come in with dog treats
  • people who feel it is there dog park
  • people who scream and yell at dogs for normal dog behavior
  • people who kick, beat or other violence toward your dog or any ones dog
  • people who beat dogs because they do not like it
  • people who do not understand normal dog behavior and act violent towards your dog
  • people who do not want their dog to interact with other dogs and beat and scream at your dog for being near it or licking the other dog etc. (normal dog behavior)
  • if your dog is under stress because of the other dogs and the other dogs are not doing anything, such as, playing, sniffing etc, then you should remove your dog
I hope this helps others to identify an unsafe and hazardous environment for you and your dog. It is unfortunate to that Huntington Beach Dog Park has such a high number of puppy beaters. There is not much land around here so having 5 acres is out of the question. It does not leave many places to take a dog to run etc. but I for one think dog parks are not a good place.
My puppy is showing more signs of fear towards humans then before of couple of these people beat my puppy. I do hope this helps others see the signs of these unstable people and their dogs and you can avoid them all together.

I will have some more post to help with having a good safe and fun environment for you and your dog.

Good bye Huntington Beach Dog Park!
